Would Anybody like a subforum where we can post bargains that we come across. It doesn't have to be only knife related, probably just kitchen related.

I know that there are some great deals that go on that I don't know about, and I am sure it is the same with everyone. So lets have a place to post the great sales and discounts that we come across so that everyone can know about them.

I am sure there will need to be some restrictions though.

Anyway Thoughts? Comments?

The team is always open to suggestions of this type, what we have found is the best way to manage fora creation is when content drives it. Over the years we have had quite a few posts about deals and bargains. I can recall Thermapens, Sous vide machines and various others. What we would need to create a new forum is the content to drive it- from a practical point the opposite of "build it and they will come" I just do not see that level at this time.

When I first read this, I thought someone was trying to sell their subforum!

I would like to see more interest expressed before I add this forum.

Seems these things get posted in random places such as off topic room and at least it would give some organization to it. I do enjoy seeing these posted though I am cheap and may be in the minority. :)

I agree. Seems like a good idea to me.

I also agree that it could make these things easier to find if they are all in one place, rather than being scattered through various other forums. It would be helpful to see if there is more interest, and perhaps the new forum could be started on a trial basis.

Would be convenient, but anything new will show up under "What's New" anyway so...I don't know, guess I can go either way, not feeling real commited this morning, need more coffee :coffeelots:

Not everyone uses the "what's new" button.

Not everyone uses the "what's new" button.

If they don't want to miss stuff, maybe they should. I always use the New Posts button and quickly see if there is anything I find vaguely interesting. Shrug

Yes that is true but there are also posts that have deals mentioned within them that no one would know about if they didn't think the title was interesting. For example This post http://www.kitchenknifeforums.com/showthread.php/13602-Masamoto-gyutos-on-rakuten . I was not interested at all in getting a Masamoto, but I just saved $90 getting a yoshikane gyuto because it was mentioned on that thread.
If I was looking at the general knife discussion or new posts thread and saw that title I'd be like "I don't care about Masamotos" But if I saw that on a bargain themed sub forum I would be like "hmm I don't care about Masamotos, but I do like bargains lets check it out." :2cents:

I vote YES on a bargain subforum. It's way to spread out right now for my tastes.

Just agreeing the the masses. Almost any forum you visit has a "hot deals" sections. It may not get used all the time if there aren't hot deals but it gives an opportunity.

Title should include: name of product, price, store/location
Description should have link to product.

I think it should also include an end/no longer relevant date.
