This is a tough one for me. Randy Jr. makes some amazing damascus patterns. Yet I think of all the patterns he has made Feather is my favorite! The feather he makes is in my opinion some of the coolest patterned I have ever seen.

Here are a couple images of 2 billets he forged this week. As well as a few other examples of billets made over the last year. :)

Whats your favorite damascus pattern?

God Bless YA!

I agree, Feather is my favourite, I love how all the makers seem to put there own personality onto it. Randy Jr, Will C, Hoss, David Lisch, all make beautiful feather patterns, but all are unique, and distinct. I also love Bills dragon breath.

Feather and herringbone are my two favorite patterns.

The 'Raindrop' reminds me of some Australian desert Aboriginal paintings.

Feather for sure... I don't really like ladder, probably my least favorite.:eyebrow:

Big fan of the rain drops but that tsunami pattern is crazy groovy! Tough call between the 2 for this guy.

Wow I didn't realize you guys did all of these!! That's some amazing Demascus work!

Raindrop pattern is/was my first true love
Scotts scimitar with the feather pattern from Hoss always stands out in my mind. I had a chance to buy that knife from him once but didn't have the cash sure wish I did

Bills Dragon breath (I think that's the name, hope I'm not wrong) is another one of my favorites.

Hey, I guess you could call it a "dream thought" I always wanted something with a cat like pattern. You know something at that might resemble black cats in a line, in rows walking or randomly scattered around?

feather by a long shot. I like patterns that are a little subtle and have a feeling of movement to them

I can honestly say I haven't seen any patterns from HHH, Hoss or Bill Burke that I haven't lusted over. One of my favorites is the mosaic pattern that Don Hanson III has been ever evolving.

Gonna bump this thread back to life and say rain drop and river of fire are my favorite, really like blue damascus and tri metal damascus with copper/brass as well. Would love to see raindrop and feather as a composite piece. Vines and roses from devin is also pretty cool. :knife:

Bubblewrap for blades with a lot of real estate. Feather (and variations) for narrow blades.

I would like the feather, dragons breath and the river/estuary as with coreless Damascus would be good to have at the edge. The tighter the pattern the better.

The random patterns are cool too, probably my preferred option for differentially hardended Damascus with hamon

I have the 2nd post in this thread, having just recieved a dragons breath Gyuto from Bill Burke, I am even more sure that it's my favourite, having seen river of fire it's a close second
