My newest toys. I have a soft spot for good knives and good tools. Everything else is secondary. Wilson hardness testers. Only need one, but ended up with two. Anybody looking for a hardness tester? :p

you don't happen to have any idea of where to get a diamond tip for those.
I have a tester just like that but I don't have a tip for it.

If I am not mistaken, diamond tips come with a standard shank

and fit more than one brand. I haven't started inquiring yet, but a quick net search turned up the following:

http://www.newageinstruments.com/hardness-indenters.htm
http://www.hardnesstesters.com/Products/Accessories/Indenters.aspx
http://www.instron.us/wa/acc_catalog/prod_list.aspx?cid=1153&cname=Rockwell%20Indenters%20and%20Ball%20Penetrat ors

Here is one at MSC with price

I will inquire tomorrow.

Two were for sale in one lot, and I got them at a good price. I will sell one, so if anybody interested, let me know.

A US made diamond tip will range in price from $112 (MSC) to $230 (Instron). Test blocks will cost $35-80, lowest being quality imports from the likes of SPI.

Are you up for a good damascus knife or two? I would be up for a trade if you are. That is one tool I don't have, I have occasional acess to one, but it would be nice to have one in-house.

Mario, you were exposed to the same bug I was. I guess you have a greater immunity. :)

There has been an interest in the second tester. I got both from a company in Connecticut. They bought it for a project, that never materialized and they ended up storing them for several years. The equipment was sold to me as is.

Before the purchase I spoke to a person familiar with hardness testers. He told that not many things go wrong with this type of equipment and units were most likely operational. However, I will only be able to determine that after testing it. I also would like to have them recalibrated.

So, there is a possibility that one of them will be offered for sale, but there are a few things I have to do before that. Also, if I end up selling, I will offer the unit in the order inquiries are received. I got 4 inquiries.
