Hello, my name is Randy and im a addict. A burl addict. They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. LOL

So yea, Thats just to funny, Some of you already have had a chance to get to know me and my obsession through threads on this forum and others! I am a BURL JUNKY. and Im proud of it! I've spent countless hours scouring the globe (via the internet) searching out the rarest and most beautiful piece.. And still even with enough burl to make knives for the next 10 years, spend a couple hours a day on average seeking ut that next amazing piece!

I would like to start a galley of some of my favorite pieces. and some that are still available. This will give you guys a chance to see some different species and possible find something that screams your name.. If you see a piece you cat live without. or want on your next custom knife. PM me! Im always happy to work with you to either make your knife. Or willing to part with some of my stash..

WARNING Im gonna warn you one time.. Burl and its beauty and mysterious patterns are addictive. If you find yourself all of a sudden wanting to buy a chain saw and cutting the neighorbs tree down.. to get to that burl.. Its time to stop looking at this thread and seek professional help... (call me) lolol I know how to do it without getting caught!

LOL Just joking. I havnt cut a neighbors tree down in weeks! . :bigeek:

Really the reason for this thread it 2 fold. I get to show off my collection and also to possibly take a custom order or sell off a couple pieces.. That way I can continue to feed my addiction!

Thanks for looking, enjoy the pics and please dont hesitate to comment or leave some pictures of your own. I LOVE burl and would enjoy seeing them!

Im gona start it out with a couple of Ironwood pics,, This species is one of my favorites, Its a very dense hardwood thats got amazing color and figure. But this is not your ordinary Ironwood. Its SUPER BURL! I have watched and waited for years for a chance to score some of this stuff! I swear this stuff is so hard to come by its crazy, and when you do find it, its sold like gold or silver, by the gram. lolol

Feel free to contact me any time. :) Thanks for looking and God Bless

And a few more, Most of these are from Craig Stevens.. Anyone who has looked for woods for knife making has probably seen Craigs stuff. Its always amazing. Most of these are in my collection still and just waiting for the right knife to use em on!

Craig is a good friend of mine and my mentor. I have great respect for him.. And owe most of my addiction to him!

If you want a Amazingly beautiful handle, this is the guy you want to get the wood from! Unless you can talk me out of a piece! lol

Enjoy!

Yep These are some extra special cocobolo and rosewood burl pieces.. But the best part is there's a surprise piece on the way to me that is suppose to be "Exhibition" grade and be even better then these.. I didn't think there could be anything better!?!?!?

That Maple piece is SWEET! This is from a raw burl that I got a few years ago. Stellar curl and fire!!

Nice score, Randy. You have all the great woods. I just missed out on an ebay auction today for a piece that went for half of what I would have paid while I was shopping for groceries. I hate when that happens... On the positive side, I am not buying any wood right no anyway :)

Often overlooked and under appreciated. Maple is one of my all time favorite materials. Its ability to take stabilization well. Pair that with the many different types of figure. And its easy to see why I like it so well.

Many asked if I had more of the spalted curly maple I used on the Kato handle. and I was able to secure one more block. Its to small for 2 wa handle. But ideal to be 2 sets of scales. Grrr.. Hard call.

Also secured some of the same wood Died Blue. That I am pretty excited to see in person. :)

And lastly just some buckeye burl. Nothing all that CRAZY. yet oh so beautiful!

Did I mention I am a Burl Junky?? Yea. I know. At some point I may need a intervention. But dont you dare call em!

Just googled him. His work is amazing. I wouldn't be opposed to swapping out the ironwood from the petites for block #1 and #2 as it shouldn't be more than a few bucks more. I love wood that doesn't look like wood. If that makes sense.

Shoot me a PM or email and we can discus any changes to the order. etc.

Hey guys. I guess I opened up a can of worms here. On the San Mai, PRE BUY knives I would prefer to not make any more changes. Each time I have to stop and double check that, this or the other thing.. And or reply to emails about changing handle materials. Bouncing 2 to 10 messages back and forth. etc. Doing so, essentially takes this from a "Pre Buy" to a build your own custom knife offer. And as you likely know, The reason I offer a PRE BUY knife at the price I do is that I dont have to spend that added time and work for each order. and can focus that into making the knives as awesome as possible.

That said. I do offer this type of full custom service on all of the custom order knives! :D And welcome the opportunity to work with you to make a full custom.

I hope you guys understand my position on this. And rest assured that the Ironwood I have selected and secured for these is first rate and will be exceptional and awesome!

Blessings
Randy

Lol sorry for opening a can of worms(what's funny is I had that as the subject title before I swapped it) I wasn't sure they had that saying in America. I'm sure I'll survive with iron wood. :sad0: All the best.
