I think the worst part about those knives is that the gold ring isn't attached to the Handel! What are they trying to sell? Machetes?

Do you mean the "tsuba" or handguard? It isn't supposed to be attached to the handle on a Japanese sword. Of course, these are supposed to be kitchen knives for people that have watched too many Japanese samurai movies. I'm sure "Lone Wolf and Cub" have a set in their kitchen. :)

I wonder if the maker has been to Viet Nam recently? A lot of his kitchen knives look like they were copied off the standard Viet pattern. I've tried those and they aren't bad for Viet style cooking.

Care for knives like this, they never say that you will need to sharpen it eventually. I swear it is the knife companies who have house wives thinking that a steel is how you sharpen. I think they don't want to intimidate their customers.

Yikes, that santility was awful, but I am sure people will buy them in droves. It just has bad American home cook written all over it. With that said, I did think the demo chef was kind of cute at first, but then after hearing her talk about the santility, she instantly became as unattractive as the knife.

I think they don't want to intimidate their customers.They know they average Joe isn't going to spend the money on supplies or take the time to properly sharpen a knife so they make them believe a steel will do to make another sale.

Here is a blog on it. They only made 60 numbered pieces. So act now. They won't last now. I'm thinking about trading my Rader for their "Japanese santoku" option. I bet it is way better then the plain old santoku option they have.

It is hand polished in japan as well. Made in France but polished in Japan. Some rich dude, who has no idea what he is doing, must think he bought the best knife ever. I bet they sold every one.

I can't even see the lower side of the blade of that de buyer on my monitor, and the handle looks cropped, is that even a real picture of the knife? It looks like the handle was photoshopped or something, kinda crazy a company that makes pans as good as they do, this is the knife they come up with.
