Where did the engravings on the steel come from Spike?

Is "01" the steel type? What does "RC" stand for?

And just how long is this bad boy?

O1 is the steel type, RC are my initials, also a DBA RC ArtMetal, and I engrave the letters on the blade myself before I heat treat.
My registered mane is Raymond Cornelius, butt I have been called Spike since shortly after birth.

Oh, and there is a tape measure in the first picture!

Thanks Spike. Looks like a fun project.

(Guess I missed the ruler in the first photo!).

I suppose that I could go ahead and use it, butt I would need some wormy spalted unstabilized wood for the handle!

So it's a Sugimoto inspired design, yes? Still perhaps my favorite gyuto design at the 180-210mm size.... no, not perhaps, it is. Gotta use one a bit longer and see if it translates for me. Good looking work Spike.

Kind Regards

Bryan

I think Spike meant it's a mix of a suji profile and a gyuto.
Cool looking knife, Spike. Are you going to use that crazy bolster?

I have started carving another, that one is just too far gone.
Thanks for the positive comments, guys! I'm trying some 3M micro finishing sheets on this and am encouraged by the way they work.

Looking good, Spike. Does it have an edge on it yet? It's hard to tell.
