To obtain insurance for cargo (cargo trains and cargo containers), the manufacturers and shippers need an insurance grade padlock. There are two organizations which supply insurance ratings to high grade padlocks, and the manufacturers have to build locks to surpass those ratings. It's both good and bad, since if you fail only one part of the 'standard', your lock is disqualified from a particular rating. But the bottom line is that the major European lock makers (Abloy, Anchor-Las, ABUS, Squire, etc etc) build them tough. Anchor-Las (very very expensive) and Abloy (very expensive) are the Rolls Royce and Bentley of padlocks. You have to hold one in your hand to appreciate the build-quality and beauty of these things.

it is true almost all of them are made by abloy. you can't even copy those keys because they are made with the computer stuff.

I'm not so sure about that. I was visiting Anewco in town and they are always looking for manual machinists. The CNC stuff is really big and continually growing, but it's only used for stuff in high volume. It's much more economical to have someone manually machine a part if there are only 5 to be made or so.

1st knife is an udon knife. 2nd knife is a honesuki, but he's using it with his left hand so the front of the knife is against the ice and we see the back side. 3rd knife looks to be a petty with the tip broken off. You'll get the meat out pretty easily with a metal pin / utensil.

They are probably not for "crab legs". I'm sure that dude knows what he is doing.

They explained it in another report I saw on it. Something about looking like a suoer hero or some non sence. Apparently they draw in huge crowds. So I guess it is more exciting for people to watch a "robot" do the work.

It looks like it's 2 motors, one of which is probably literally a windshield wiper motor inside a big goofy blow-molded plastic power ranger and a couple LED's.

Doesn't even come close:

Murray being awesome as always. The thing I love about his videos is that they make me sit back and really think about things much bigger than knives. This one is another example of this. Some great professional looking and slo mo footage in this one as well.
