Isn't that a Wa-estern?

Isn't that a Wa-estern?

The wa-estern, my favorite style of western handle. It looks a bit narrow for that blade, and I would rather see the ferrule not angled like that; but this is just my opinion from looking at the photos. The blade looks good, and I like the look of the handle overall.

For a first one very nice. You hit it out of the park.

Very nice looking profile. Ala Delbert wa-estern handle is nice!! What materials are the handle composed of?

NO ChoP!

I think the bolster is made from imitation crab stix....

I like it, especially the top of the tang shot.

Never mind the bollocks um I mean pollock. Reminds me much more of Japan's rising sun.
That knife handle really looks good!

OH CRAP!!! I lied.....This is my second western:slaphead::slaphead:

Ebony from mark, red and black micarta. The customer designed the knife and handle.I had some red G10 and it was less "red" then the micarta.

That's a nice wide Ealy Handle (http://www.kitchenknifeforums.com/showthread.php/2066-240-Gyuto-design-and-layout?p=30537&viewfull=1#post30537). Proportions look good.

Thank you for not putting Machi on your western handle.

Hey, that's a great look!

Love the materials and the angles at the bolster and butt of the handle.

Personally taste only, but I may have gone with just two or perhaps even a single pin here.

Aha, a "split-wa"!Yeah. Wa-stern would be more like the hidden tang wester deals, in my mind, lol. :) I don't know about the ferrule but looks nice n clean. I like it!

I like the over all shape. Dont love the woods used. But see a ton of potential for sure.

I think there is a bit much going on here for me... Subtlety and simplicity are sexy.

** Edit: The shape is really nice! It looks great to use. I'd love to see it with 4 pieces and less contrast with the ferrul. The red is a bit much for me, even some blue Mastodon would be more sleek IMHO. I'm no expert, my opinion holds as much water as a colander.

+1 - the red bolster doesn't do it for me somehow and shows up more pink on my Ipad screen. A more subtle darker red would definitely be my personal preference.

She does look pink in the pic,but it looks red in real life. The G-10 was less red,Stefan do you think some bake-lite would have been more consistent in color then micarta. If the customer is happy that's all that really counts.
