This was a P I T A.......I don't know how much Marko is charging for one, what ever it is it's not enough.I have not machine buffed the handle yet and I just may leave it as is.

Well, you certainly didn't choose forgiving materials to try it out on!

I think it looks great, nonetheless. The orientation on the Ironwood is perfect.

Looks fantastic. That's probably my favorite all-round handle shape.

The mammoth and iron wood probably didn't help matters along.
The handle looks great, Mario.

Not a fan of D handles, but the shape on that one looks well executed.

That looks really nice!!

I'm just curious, what made it a PITA to do? I haven't tried a D shape or Octagon Wa style yet and I'm debating about them or just sticking to rounded oval shaped handles.

An octagon is very simple, you square you block, set your tapers and facets all on a disc sander.Free handing an ovalish side, two round sides, a pointed side, and double taper was a bit of a challenge.

Ah, ok. The few Wa handles I have done are oval shaped, and I wasn't sure what was making the D shape harder; I figured it was the sharp straight line on the belly of the D. I still haven't done an Octagon Wa style handle yet!

I too look forward to seeing it on a knife.
Right now it looks like a really expensive lipstick case.

I love it. I have a knife that has a huge split and is separating from the ferule. Is it spoken for????

Both are great, but as expected that second one is fabulous IMHO. I have those on my list also - once I finished unpacking my moving boxes... Just wondering: did you start with a square piece or a round piece? I was wondering wether using rounds may be easier.

The Koa does "pop" more on a D then a Wa.

Have you done a D shaped WIP yet Mario? I'd love to see your technique.
