You all are pretty smart when it comes to wood, but I thought I would see if you can guess what this is anyways.
Lucretia will probably give us the scientific name and Spike will probably use the name in a pun.
I will give everyone else a hint;
the blue is not a natural occurring color, it is dye......duh. Not much of a hint.
and yes, I am easily entertained.

YES!

The last photo with all the blocks is;
spalted curly maple, 2nd growth redwood burl and flamed redwood.
I thought they turned out pretty cool.
