This is a VINTAGE 230mm suji/petty, made by Landers, Frary and Clark, who were the biggest American cutlery manufacturers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The style of this knife is the same as a Nogent Sab, but is made in the USA. It could be anywhere from over 100 to about 70 years old, but without proof either way, I'll just say it's old and awesome!

I sharpened it up, after tweaking the edge profile and fixing the finger guard, and it's a surprisingly wear resistant old carbon. It gets nice and sharp, and is now toothy/3 finger test sharp, and only brought up to 1k and stropped on cardboard.

The knife is 230mm, with a heel height of 36mm. Spine at the heel is 2.5mm, there is a wicked distal taper and it drops to virtually nothing at the tip. As a result, this blade does have a fair bit of flex. It is the perfect knife for meat fabrication, and would excel at removing silver skin and slicing steaks out of loins.

Here are the pics:

There is a crack on the one side of the handle, but it doesn't go all the way through, as the handle is peened at the end, or has a full length rat tail tang.

Price for this wonderful antique knife is $65 all in (Worldwide).

Thanks, guys!

Fine, $60 :)

Nice knife Lefty . that has to be turn of the century before the Universal stamp and brand .

10-11-2012, 08:06 AM
How cool is that??? Thanks, steeley! :D

10-13-2012, 11:33 AM
This one is tentatively SPF. Thanks, guys.

I'm offering up a sale price to KKF members only on one of the nicest knives I've ever touched! I have no clue how it's still in my shop, but it is and it needs to be put to use and getting love!

This: http://sharpandshinyshop.com/collections/frontpage/products/butch-harner-nakiri BEAUTIFUL Harner Nakiri is available, until 9:30pm, tonight at the price of $685 + actual shipping!

I need this to be bought, or I'm going to crack, and use it myself! :D

10-17-2012, 04:51 PM
That's so tempting!! why do you do this to me Tom? show me all these good knives, now your putting a price drop on a beautiful knife. oh well i guess you are just feeding my addiction:doublethumbsup: To bad i just got a new knife this week or else it would be gone

10-17-2012, 04:56 PM
Which one? I hope you mean the Rodrigue Dammy Parer!

10-17-2012, 04:58 PM
Is the big vintage American chefs on your site still available? If so, I will be pulling the trigger Friday when I get paid

10-17-2012, 05:00 PM
Yep thats the one:D and it's already picked up a nice blue patina on the first day

10-17-2012, 05:08 PM
Jm, it is "technically" available. I had a buyer and when I went to sharpen it up to get shipped out, I noticed a bend towards the tip. I gave him the option of buying it at $25 (huge discount, I know haha), but he chose to pass on it. It is fixable, for sure, but I haven't had another go at it, and I didn't want to try to fix it and end up breaking the tip off if he still wanted it. So, yes, and the new price is $25. :) It's still a beautiful vintage blade!

10-17-2012, 05:08 PM
Oh, and Trev, we all want pics, man!

10-17-2012, 05:39 PM
Well lefty, if you still have it Friday ill pm you. It sure is a beauty

10-17-2012, 05:40 PM
Oh, and I don't need a discount. Original price is fine by me

10-17-2012, 10:37 PM
Working on the pictures just need to get a camera, my phone doesnt want to upload photos to the computer

10-18-2012, 12:41 AM
Did the vintage petty/suj sell? ... and I believe there was some mention about strops?

10-18-2012, 02:23 AM
JM beat me to it, but put me down as first on the waiting list for the big vintage chef if he backs down. 1 week too late, dammit.

10-18-2012, 08:59 AM
I have a couple more I'll work on today, guys :) I should get them up this afternoon!

10-18-2012, 08:59 AM
Strops are in the works :)

10-18-2012, 12:21 PM
Damn, mother nature isn't co-operating. I grind outside, for better light and ventilation. However, it's windy as all hell and it's going to pour any minute now.

If anyone is interested in a vintage 9 or 10" (can't remember) slicer/suji, or a 12" chef that is basic vintage carbon, let me know and we can figure out pics, etc.

Sorry, guys.

10-18-2012, 12:36 PM
One more thing...I hesitate to do this, but I will for the right member. If the Harner Nakiri is here because of cost, I'll do $700, in two or three installments, over the course of the month or month and a half. This knife honestly is way too perfect to sit here. You guys are blowing my mind with this one!

10-22-2012, 11:42 AM
Wow. So, we're now officially out of Brooklyn to London Shaving Soap, for the next couple of weeks. The feedback has been more than terrific on it, and I am in love, myself.

If you guys want to order some, I'll be taking orders, and getting the bars out ASAP. I'm expecting a couple of weeks, because of delivery and some other cool stuff in the works :) I'm also going to carry some unscented for you guys who have sensitive skin. I'm not judging, I promise. In fact, I use sensitive skin aftershave and I LIKE IT!!! :)

So, if you want to be first for the next batch of soap, post here and I'll compile a list. OR, if it's a secret, because your wife says you don't need more shaving products, just email me or pm me and I'll put you in the list, according to "sign up".

Thanks again, guys, and be ready for a VERY VERY cool twist on my "To London" line!

This blade is going straight on here, and if it's not gone in a few days (I'll be surprised if that's the case), I'll toss it up on my site for the rest of the world to fight over :)

It's a CCK 1303, rehandled by Matt Stephens. The handle is beautiful and incredibly comfortable! Matt does great work, trust me. :) The handle is dark (cocobolo, maybe?..I have to ask him), and a very nice copper colored slightly translucent resin for the ferrule.

The 1303 is legendary for its cutting ability and crazy edge taking, though, it doesn't hold it for as long as many people wish it did. However, this is the perfect cleaver for CCK fans and people who are interested in trying a real performer out, to get your feet wet, in the world of cleavers. I picked this up hoping to become a cleaver fan, but I still prefer short gyutos and sujis (40-48mm height). I held onto this for longer than I should have, just because I don't really want to let it go. BUT, that's just dumb. :)

Here are the goods. The price is $85, plus actual shipping. Thanks for looking!

Dimensions on this beauty are 211mmx87mm. Thickness at the spine is 4mm, tapering to just over 1.2mm at the tip.

10-26-2012, 01:53 PM
Nice, I have a large CCK or I would be all over this...and it looks to be in great shape!

10-26-2012, 03:11 PM
The body of the handle on that one is iron wood.

10-26-2012, 03:16 PM
Tempting, very very tempting. Might have to think about this for a few.... Lol.

10-26-2012, 04:02 PM
This handle is ironwood. That's what I said....haha. Thanks, Matt!

10-26-2012, 04:15 PM
I think you had a typo there in the price. The way it's written currently, it looks like you're only charging $45 more than the regular price of a CCK1303, for one with an exquisite handle pre-installed. Might want to get that edited before someone buys it and holds you to your mistake.

10-26-2012, 04:23 PM
Nope. Priced to be bought by Jack! :)

10-26-2012, 04:47 PM
I already have a CCK-1303 at home and another at work!

Tell you what, I'll give you the one from work and two used Shapton Glass stones (1k and 4k) for it. ;)

10-26-2012, 05:07 PM
Man, that was almost tempting.... Hmmm

Don Nguyen
10-26-2012, 05:46 PM
Seriously, I thought it was a mistype. That's such a low price, awesome.

10-26-2012, 05:52 PM
Is this sold?

10-26-2012, 05:56 PM
I sent pm but didn't post it and didn't hear back yet.

10-26-2012, 05:58 PM
It's only been a couple of minutes though.

10-26-2012, 06:11 PM
Sorry guys! I had to go be a real person and I ignored you! Haha. Nah, I was out buying a watermelon to carve for a Halloween party. Why stick to the "typical" choice, I say.

I didn't expect so much interest, so quickly (well, I kinda did).

I got the PM from Hu first, so he has first dibs, but next is turbochef if he chooses not to take it. Sorry guys! I think this says a lot about Matt's work. Next time, I'm selling his handles for twice as much! Hahaha.

10-26-2012, 06:55 PM
If it falls through and I get it I will donate my cck 1303 with the original handle to someone who missed out.

11-28-2012, 03:57 PM

11-28-2012, 03:59 PM
On top of this recent addition...because Xmas is coming...$680 for the Harner and FREE SHIPPING for KKF members (in North America, but we'll deduct the same amount for "internationals").

12-13-2012, 02:52 PM
Here's another friendly reminder of what is here, ready for you, as a Christmas present to yourself. :D

Rodrigue 290mm Suji

The steel is 1084/15N20 Damascus, forged by Pierre, and HT'd to 61hrc. The handle is stabilized blackwood, nickel/silver and black buffalo horn for the ferrule.

You can find the knife here: http://sharpandshinyshop.com/collections/frontpage/products/rodrigue-290mm-damascus-suji . Free shipping to any members!

Thanks guys!

12-13-2012, 03:14 PM
bada$$ suji :cool2:

12-17-2012, 09:44 AM
As a last chance (hopefully) before Christmas sale, this one is going down to $1000, plus actual shipping cost! If anyone is interested, let me know as soon as possible, so we can get this in the mail, and maybe to you by Christmas! Canadian buyers, especially in Ontario, this would definitely make it under the tree, if you order today! :D

12-17-2012, 02:44 PM
Canadian buyers in Ontario, don't tempt me like that... the only person this would make it under the tree for is myself.

If you don't have a Rodrigue knife, this would be a great one to start with.

12-17-2012, 03:04 PM
Hell, I'll hand deliver it on Wednesday morning to you, Adam :D

12-17-2012, 03:19 PM
Sorry about the delay, guys. Here are the Harners. Only two left!

12-19-2012, 12:08 AM
Only the awesome, miniature version of the "Prep-monster" - the Yo-Bocho - is left for the Harners!

12-19-2012, 01:20 AM
hehe yes, if I didn't have a Pierre, too bad I have 3 with one still on order, can't do it. Will save that beauty for another Pierre addict.

12-22-2012, 10:05 PM
Sorry guys, Christmas is my birthday, so this one was too tempting to pass up. I just bought it.

12-23-2012, 12:50 AM
Sorry guys, Christmas is my birthday, so this one was too tempting to pass up. I just bought it.

Good job on the buy ejd53, it's a stunning blade and if I just didn't buy the Pierre 250mm san mai gyuto, I would have grabbed that.

12-24-2012, 06:01 AM
It's official! The coolest suji ever is SOLD! Thanks, guys, and congrats to the new owner! This is one of those knives that just feels right. Beautiful balance, between heft and agility. The damascus...Stunning! You're in for a treat! :D

01-25-2013, 09:23 PM
I've added a few products to the wet-shaving section. More to come, as well.

01-30-2013, 08:31 PM
Got a couple more brushes and some soaps to list. There is a new soap up, but I should get the rest up tomorrow.

I'm gonna keep the one brush, I think...I'm a sucker for the Vie-Longs, and this has perfect knot ratios!

03-27-2013, 02:54 PM
Two Konosuke HDs available, guys. One 210 petty with upgraded handle, and one 240 gyuto with a very similar handle. Check em' out!

Thanks everyone!

03-27-2013, 03:17 PM
Well, that was fast... Wasn't expect anything else though.

03-27-2013, 03:38 PM
Wow...they're no longer available. Snipers, all of you!

03-27-2013, 03:50 PM

NO ChoP!
04-03-2013, 01:12 PM
I use this same combo, mine with Henry handles. They are my go-to's....tried tons, but always go back to my HD's.

04-04-2013, 01:07 AM
Im in Vegas and mine just arrived from Lefty, Im having fun here but Im sort of itching to get them in my hand.

04-04-2013, 09:28 AM
I can't believe I missed these! Aaahhhggg!

04-17-2013, 10:11 PM
A few new knives are up, guys. ODC, Sab, Marr. Ya know...fun stuff! I only listed on Forgecraft slicer, but there's another just like it to whoever asks first :D

04-17-2013, 11:08 PM
If the ODC American slicer is there Saturday, expect an email Tom!

04-18-2013, 05:37 AM
Sounds good, Joe. :D We ca maybe slide that cleaver you were interested in too. :D

I've been asked about shipping cost, and I know the price sucks!!! But, that's the cost of shipping now. Damn! However, for you guys, I can ship "slow mail" (it takes a couple weeks at most, normally), but once it's out of my hands...well, it's out of my hands. Trust me, I get the shipping price thing. I hate that amount it costs, but it's kinda to cover my butt.

If anyone wants a knife shipped with the other type of shipping, it's normally about $10 cheaper, and I'm good with it, as long as this can be considered a waiver or whatever we want to call it. :)

Thanks for the interest, guys! Oh, and it looks like one Forgecraft slicer is spoken for.

04-18-2013, 10:17 AM
I do like hearing the word cleaver and my name in the same sentence, lol.

On the shipping, Leftys shipping is a little high, but your getting it from Canada, so that's something to consider. It's well worth it. His packing is always top notch, and from personal experience, the fastest shipping times from Canada I've had. All the packages I've received from him, were here in less then a week once it left his hands. Extra 10$ well spent.

04-18-2013, 10:50 AM
I just shipped a pass around to Canada. It was over $40 with insurance. I don't think your shipping prices are unreasonable under the circumstances.

04-18-2013, 10:54 AM
Both Forgecraft slicers are sold. Thanks guys!

05-06-2013, 01:50 PM
You guys might want to look at my homepage.

05-06-2013, 04:16 PM
the straight edge? Pretty darn stunning. And then I check the knife page like I often do. And then I get sad, again, like I often do when I see such nice knives that I either was too late for or just out of my range, all sold. But great for you! And that razor, how are you not keeping that one for yourself?!

05-06-2013, 04:24 PM
I have a wife who I want to keep. Haha

More knives soon. :D

05-06-2013, 05:45 PM
250mm American suji - the perfect match for the carving fork I just finished . . . thanks Lefty.

05-06-2013, 05:51 PM
Another fantastic Rodrigue razor! Alas, I don't have the funds for that beauty. Need to work on my shaving skills with a straight anyway, so it's probably for the best.

05-16-2013, 01:52 AM
Very nice Marr!

If I hadn't just recently purchased a Marr Gyuto id be all over this... Id still like to see some closer pics of this beauty!

How bout it?

05-16-2013, 04:41 AM
Damn it man! Another good one missed! Would have liked to try out that Marr Wa gyuto! Smack my ass

05-16-2013, 09:05 AM
First time I saw that Marr I thought the handle looked a bit off... But it really has grown on me, just like the shig westerns. The knife looks great and I wouldn't mind trying it out as I'm sure it will perform aswell.

07-30-2013, 02:25 PM
Two beautiful Watanabes up, along with a Mac Bread Knife.

For the Shige 210 Gyuto - Free Shipping for KKF members. PM/email me if you want it!

Here are two pieces that were inspired by recent requests and the "Line Knife" idea that Butch and I tossed around. These are not spoken for, yet....

8" Line Knife and a 140mm Mini-mini Gyuto

So, yeah...not yet spoken for. :D

Pensacola Tiger
10-06-2013, 10:06 PM
That line knife is sick. ME want!

10-06-2013, 11:40 PM
Wow! That's a ton of interest. It looks like these two are spoken for before I even have them! The mini-mini gyuto is more tentative, so I'll keep you all posted.

10-07-2013, 12:55 AM
You are right indeed, that line knife is sick! No need for a new line knife, but that looks like it would do the job, surely!

10-07-2013, 12:56 AM
it looks so sharp and my line knife is so dull right now..... :(

10-07-2013, 01:55 AM
That line knife is sick. ME want!

thought exactly the same thing!

10-21-2013, 11:01 PM
Two Konosuke Fujiyamas up on the site. Man, these are sensational....

Oh, also a Boner, from Butch. Tee hee. Contact me for more info on this one.
