Help me pick a high grit diamond stone

Potentially the NSK oboro line. Harder than the other NSK lines with higher diamond density. Also kinda $$

Show your work! Uchigumori and co...

Not perfect, but I took this 52100 Shihan to synth stones (400 FSK, 1k Jki resin diamond, 3k ouka, kitayama 8k) for a polish / light thinning. As a fledgling polishing enthusiast, I’m pretty happy that I maintained a convex edge, and took the polish all the way up to the KU finish.

    Knife findings

Last year he made a bunch of long, tall knifes. I think some feedback he got from folks was to add a greater variety of lengths and heights (not everyone likes 55mm+ heels). I’m sure he’ll have larger ones in his next batch.

    Paper Towel Challenge

That’s Kippington :) he’s a knife maker and that method of deburring is by far my favorite. It’s efficient, and easy, once you get over how counter intuitive it feels to run a knife along a stone at 90 degrees. Also notice he’s using edge leading strokes for everything except the final strops...

I have no idea how he manages to turn a profit. That's an insane deal. Such a good knife for the $

My favorite color is BLUE!.............A patina thread.

An experiment in patina. HSC/// petty in ApexUltra with a dama Saimai. Sanded up to 1500 grit, dipped in coffee then stripped with Flitz 3 times, then cut some hot chicken. Very pretty result.

    Asking for polishing/hand-sanding advice!

I will add, that from my humble, VERY limited experience using sandpaper to adjust my knives and learning to polish w/o going into the JNAT rabbit hole, using WD40 as a lubricant does add some limited rust resistance to knives, though that may be due to the smoothness MSC mentioned.

Thank you whoever bought those. You'll be quite happy. I don't "need" another one (but damn it, I want another) 💦

    The knife abstinence thread

In the spirit of this thread, I really want another Birgersson. I have a great ktip from him, it’s one of my favorite cutters. There’s no reason to get another one. But those wrought and stainless clad ones he’s posted about recently caaaall to me. 😭
