I started sharpening with stones a few months ago and started by trying to sharpen cheap stainless ones we already had, not a nice experience, because I didn't care too much if I scuffed the face I don't think I spent long enough learning the feel of the stone, steel, angles and trying to get...

I kind of moved on from the combo stone by accident, will be a nice stone for someone though

I picked up an impulse buy Suehiro 600 off the BST to use as a quicker cutting stone, then my wife got me a Mizuyama 3000 while she was on holiday in NYC, so the 1000/4000 doesn't get any use since then as I prefer the single stones.

I have my JCK 1000/4000 combo stone for sale, it has only been used about 6 or 7 times as I now have single stones. It comes in the original box and has hardly any wear as you can see. Cost me $72 inc shipping, so after $50/£30 in UK and $55/€40 in Europe shipped including Paypal fees...

Got a Mizuyama 3000 recently and really like it, nice feel to it, I am still improving my sharpening and haven't tried many other brands to compare it properly though.

My wife had a holiday in NYC recently and went to Korin to get something from my birthday. She was very well looked after by Mari and all the Korin staff. I unexpectedly got a nice card and a small gift in the bag of goodies as well:) So thanks again to Mari and everyone at Korin:D

Are there any machines that have a slip clutch? Similar to that on a drill for instance, the wheel would slip rather than catching the thing you are buffing and throwing it about, no idea about buffing just curious.

No problem, you wouldn't have known I would have taken it, my wife got some nice pics while she was where:)

I would have asked my wife to pick up the stone fixer if she was still in NYC but they left yesterday:( Anyway thanks for looking after her when she came in :)
