    Disappointment

Just thought I'd add an update. James from Knives and Stones got in touch and offered to fix it at no charge. I really want to pay for his time - this certainly isn't his responsibility and I don't feel reasonable taking him up on this, but it does speak to his generosity and fantastic...

    Disappointment

So it looks like USPS wrecked it. I also got my wires crossed and this one was domestic within the US - my mail forwarder showed me an image of it damaged by the time it got to them. Seller seems willing to put in a claim. James from Knives and Stones suggested I come in and see him, which...

    Disappointment

I was probably poor at lots of things in a previous life. Not much has changed in this life either.

    Disappointment

Sorry I tried a couple of times with the images - little picture button and then the url, but I must have screwed it up somehow. Yes it is a Shiro Kamo - I thought it might be good for my partner who doesn't get the whole "wipe it down after you cut anything" rigmarole. Looks puuurdy too...

    Disappointment

I wonder how many here have had the excitement of a new knife purchase crushed when they open the box and it looks like this. Obviously if the mailman really wants to wreck it, nothing will stop them, but I would think even a makeshift stiff cardboard saya would go a long way to...

    American Made Knives

Under $300 on B/S/T got me a Marko practice gyuto and it is an absolute thing of beauty. Someone else mentioned a Carter Muteki, which would be an excellent option new in that price range.

    Kasumi Finish

Looks beautiful! How do you get the core so polished? Really lovely contrast with the frosted cladding.

    New Product!

It'd murder knives surely. I wonder why kickstarter allowed them to sell an overpriced copy of an existing product? Mind you if they made it out of R2 damascus, that'd be a different story...

    Hello from Sydney

Hi everyone, what a great forum! I'm a home cook, and while I don't *need* Japanese knives with hundreds of years of heritage and edges that will frighten the daylights out of any vegetable it goes near, I do appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that goes into them. Functional art really...
