    Uploading pictures

I'm already using Photobucket. I can just click the image link and paste it in. I've seen now that you can pay to have the privilege of uploading directly to the site. Good for vendors and the like, but not much of a call for me to do it. Thanks, Matus.

What should my next knife be?

LOL, your level two trolling skills are hilarious. It must suck to be you.

What should my next knife be?

Well, thanks for the insight, guys. Hopefully it's helping the OP. For sure it is helping me.

What should my next knife be?

OP, he's right about the bamboo cutting board. They are full of silica. And 99% of the people on this site know waaaaay more than I do about knives. But the two Gesshin's that I suggested are still strong options. What part of the Shun didn't feel right? The handle? Blade? You said...

What should my next knife be?

Awesome. He comes in, runs me down when I'm just trying to help, and then you side with him. Can you please quote my post and tell me where I was wrong? Please. And while you're at it, don't grasp at straws. In the future, you shouldn't generalize an entire state. It just makes you look...

What should my next knife be?

He also is using a Shun Premier and I suggested a Shun Classic, which has a different handle. I didn't see you suggesting anything. Just come in here to run me down?

What should my next knife be?

Oops, that SLT link didn't work out right. Here is a link from Google. https://www.google.com/#q=sur+la+table+shun+classic+2-piece+knife And I agree with Matus. There are so many solutions to what you want. The Gesshin knives are great, but by no means the only thing out there.

What should my next knife be?

First of all, there is nothing wrong with Shun. The only reason people around here don't like them, is because they are big box, and not made by some obscure knife maker. I kind of agree with this thinking in the respect that you should support the small guy. But where it becomes a problem is...

    Thermapen again - factory sale

I think that's what I paid for mine. Very satisfied as well. Totally changed my chicken on the grill. I pull it way earlier now.

    General sharpening questions

It is good to try and be precise, but don't get too caught up in it at first. If you can't hold the blade at the perfect angle, then just pretend you're putting a convex bevel on it. Not kidding. Stop putting so much effort into it with the hand that's holding the handle, and try to get...

    General sharpening questions

You don't have to use waterstones on them. Remember, "abrasion is abrasion". Absolutely nothing wrong with Arkansas other than they take forever to remove metal. (generally) You can use a hand held belt sander if it pulls your skirt up. Just don't get it in your head that you have to bust...

    General sharpening questions

It's been said before - abrasion is abrasion. There's plenty of stuff out there shaped like a hone that sharpens. And you can only "realign" an edge so many times before it breaks off and the knife is dull forever until sharpened, correct? So if the knives are sharp, then something is...

Japanese Knives Yoshihiro becoming Gesshin Uraku

Two of those PM's are mine. Have since been answered, and you can skip them.

    Got first knife(s) !!!

Thanks for the tip. Makes perfect sense too. I briefly stropped the Yoshi on my 6k stone to put a microbevel on one side. Just maybe four good swipes. It's sharp. But I'm going to wait to slice the tomato again without holding it until after I get some compound and a strop. I'm not...

    Got first knife(s) !!!

I agree. But it's the only paper I have at the house, and I'm an excited knife owner that needs to cut stuff. Well la dee da! Thanks guys!

    Got first knife(s) !!!

Ha! Nice. Thanks, man. I'm actually leaving the Miyabi in the box for awhile. At least until I get the hang of things.

Japanese Knives Yoshihiro becoming Gesshin Uraku

For people that read what I wrote, understand it's from an honest, and unbiased, and inexperienced perspective. Even in this world of knives, that knife was not cheap. And I am happy with the knife. But honestly, I'm not sure if I should be pissed, happy, elated, impressed, or what - because...

    Uploading pictures

Ha Ha! Thanks. I can post pics. Just wondering why we have to go the long way around. There are faster methods these days. Don't know if they cost more or not, but if it comes down to money, I can sure contribute some.

    Uploading pictures

Guys, why is it so hard to upload pics here? Is it the forum format or something? This is the same way it's done at most forums, but some are VERY picture friendly. An example is smokingmeatforums.com . The way it works there, is you just hit the image upload button in your post, and drag...
