I'm new to the forum, and was looking to buy my first japanese kitchen knife in the near future for home use. I'll probably do some more reading and ask for some direction before I make a decision, but I can see myself becoming an enthusiast after a while, even though I only cook at home and not professionally. It's also nice to know that even if I don't feel comfortable sharpening my knife myself, there are multiple vendors who will do a quality job of it for me.
