    What is a Posnet

A Posnet is :A little basin; a porringer; a skillet.

When people only had the Hearth to cook over they needed posnet to sit over coals to cook .

This would be a early example of the Hearth with the oven with flue in the back but as time went on the oven was on the face of the Hearth.

Image #5 (putting the coals on top of the pot) is the way I Remember making Cobbler in a campfire with a Dutch Oven. Steeley if you ever make it to Detroit you need to visit The Henry Ford/Greenfield Village.
