I finally got my radius platens:dance: I will try my hand at some single bevels and some experimental grinds.

Look forward to seeing something soon. 

What are they made of? It looks kind of like stone... And do they have a 1/2 coating of something?

:dontknow:

No clue how this relates to single bevel knife making....

I'm a total consumer on this stuff. :IMOK:

Hmm, maybe some razors too? Or is the radius to big?

The platens are probably used for grinding the ura. They are like a section of a big Japanese wheel when the belt runs over them.

OOO! Does this mean combo convex / concave grinds to?!?! Exciting stuff.

Mario,

How are the new toys working out? I thought they were to give you the ability to make a nice hollow ground which would make future sharpening easier and reduce sticking. Was that your thought? Any comments would be appreciated!
