I have been offered a Kikuichi 240 mm gyuoto (Kikuichi Gold Elite Damascus). It looks really nice and is quite thin and is made of VG-10. However, I know nothing else about this knife.

Is there anyone who can tell me more, particularly about the geometry and profile? As always, is it thin behind the edge?

Thanks!

I have the 210 gold elite. I also another VG 10 knife . Some don't love VG 10. It sure work on my 2. Both take great edges and are easy to sharpen. The gold elite is nicely balanced, fairly thin behind the edge an fairly light. If your getting a deal, I think it a good value. The handle may be a little small for some. Profile reminds me of a Sab.

i thought kikuichi gold was made with vg1? well whatever. i could be wrong.

The one I had was a clad, vg10 core and SUS410 outside.
Steel was good but the F&F was bad.
