I ran out of this a while back but today I received another shipment of 5460 year old Bog Oak.
In this batch there are a bunch of nicely figured blocks with rays and flecks like you see on old antique oak furniture.
Next step is to clean it up and send it to K&G for stabilizing.

For those of you who don't know;
These blocks were cut from a huge oak tree that died and fell into the water 5460 years ago.
The tree was buried in the muck and sediment.
During that time the wood was absorbing the minerals and such from the sediment.
Now, 5460 years later the wood that started out as a white colored wood is now black.

Looks great, how soon before it's back?

Usually it is about 3 or 4 weeks from the time I send it in.
The blocks will look darker after they get sanded.
This batch has some really unusual pieces.

What is it like to work with? Would it be a good candidate for a 1st handle attempt?

It is not bad to work with but there are easier woods. I would rate it as about medium difficulty level.
Depends on if you have any experience with wood and what tools you have.
If you want you can send me a pm telling your experience and tools.
Then I could help to determine what will be best for you.
