    F/S San Mai K Tip Gyuto. F/S

K tip Gyuto. Custom chefs knife.

    OAL is approx 387mm

The blade is 258mm tip to heel. The core is 14C28N stainless with 410 stainless cladding.

The height is 47mm at the heel.

    Weight 7.1 ounces

The blade thickness is 2.5mm at the spine above the heel tapering to a very nice tip.

The handle on this is Afzilia. Xlay. which is rare and beautiful. looks like little worms worked there way into the wood and left trails. Hard to describe, hard to get a good picture of. Yet so cool. Its among my top 5 favorite materials! This wood in natural and has been hand finished with 6 coats of oil and followed up with a few coats of wax.
The handle is highly contoured and coke bottle shaped.
The pins are stainless steel with a single stainless and brass HHH mosaic pin!
Rounded spine and choil for added comfort in use.

If you're wondering what that smell is, it's me. I just soiled my trousers. That is one amazingly stunning looking knife!
I really like the coke bottle shaped handle, Randy. Very nice work indeed. Someone is going to be Very lucky to score this beauty. I really wish it was me, but the timing sucks

I can't stop looking at it. If My wife and I weren't having another girl in two weeks I'd be all over it. It's one of those pick it up now and figure out how to pay later. Beautiful work.

Hey guys.. Thanks for the nice comments!!

I will try and get a heel shot to share.

I was hoping it would sell to one of the family/forum guys, so I can get some feedback... Both on the blade grind and on the core steel long term performance. Whoever ends up with this beauty will be a happy camper!

    Back to the grind

I've only seen this wood use for pen blanks. It didn't look anywhere near this figured. This looks outrageous. I don't know how you manage to always get the outrageous handle materials Randy

That's a beautiful blade, and an even more beautiful handle! Is that center pin a new thing for you? Can't remember seeing it before, but maybe I wasn't looking that closely. Very cool.
