This may be a dumb question, but why are they called Kato's? Is that the name of the maker? Or is it somehow shortened from Yoshiaki Fujiwara?

From the JNS website:

Yoshiaki Fujiwara - The Workhorse

These beautiful knives are made by Mr. Kiyoshi Kato, born 1944 in Tokyo. He began swordsmith training in 1964, at the age of 20, and is currently a licensed sword smith.

Yeah

Kato is his name and its just easier to use :)
Also he uses kato on all his hunting knives
Yoshiaki Fujiwara it's his family name and have been used by his father etc.

I was thinking these would look really good with a green handle.

I am just joking. I hope you are not mad at me Maxim.
I think the name Kato is cool on the knives because it makes me think of the Green Hornet's sidekick.

You're not thinking of inspector Clouseau's Cato?! :D
And the Green Hornet also makes me think of the Inspector's truly awesome car The Silver Hornet.

Huh now I need to custom order one of those :lol2::nunchucks:
