I'm a big believer in vinegar in the home kitchen, for example I spray sponges and the like with vinegar daily for example as I have read some pretty convincing articles that say sponges are just bacteria rest homes. WHich got me thinking would adding a little vinegar to my permasoaking water for stones be an equally good idea ot prevent, mold, mildew etc?

Or, would making the water mildly acetic be bad for stones....

TIA

I've never found vinegar to be very effective for this, as the water still gets scummy, unless you add an awful lot. I add a bit of bleach, instead.

I don't know. I have a bin, and I add a couple cap fulls. That has worked for me, haven't bothered figuring out anything more scientific than that.

Do you have to change the water at any given frequency?

I use bleach aswell. Just 1 or 2 caps for my large-shoebox-sized bucket.

I keep my permasoaked stones in my fridge. This really cuts down on stuff growing.

put sponges in the microwave for 1 min instead of using vinegar.
