    Question Wildfire Cutlery

    Hi,

I am wanting a nice turning/bird beak knife and saw that www.wildfirecutlery.com has on in the paring knife section. Does anyone has any experience with his products or have other brands to recommend?

Note: I do not like knives that have the handle up to the heel.

    Thanks.

Look elsewhere. I bought one a few years ago, and it was a real PITA to sharpen, and when I finally got an edge on it, it didn't hold it long. I thought perhaps it was me, but the forum member I gave it to agreed with me.

    Buy a Forschner Victorinox: http://www.cutleryandmore.com/victor...ng-knife-p1725

    Actually, buy anything else.

I didn't want to come out and say it but as long as the cards are on the table. Yes they are.

The maker told me he had a "secret source" for 1095 carbon steel. How secret can anything made out of 1095 be and why would anyone care?

My boss buys everyone weird carbon knives for Xmas, and a few years ago he got these. They suck. A lot. I think the secret source is that they are repurposed scraps of saw blades a la forgecraft, only improperly treated so they, as mentioned, suck.
