This is a traditional japanese handle gyoto, made with Takefu, stainless and V-Toku 2, steel core.
Blade length: 9.20 in.
Total length: 15.00 in.
Blade width: 1.90 in.
Blade thickness: 0.11 in.
Item weight: 6.30 oz.

the etch does kinda add a little something doesn't it. It was just a quick dip about 30 seconds in some 4:1 water/ferric
 
Looks like it could be someone's only knife. That's a very good thing.
 
Awesome etch. The 2ndary shadows you get above the cladding line on your knives are more dramatic than any others Ive seen.
Can you explain what causes this without giving away too many secrets? Is it just the thinness of the cladding?

Hi Justin, I am not positive but I think it is in the initial forging.
 
the transition from soft to hard steel is ridiculously cool!
