Hi all here are a couple more Gyotos. these were made with tri colored blade steel over a V-toku 2 core from takefu steel in Japan.

the first has a ebony handle with mosaic center pin and mokume bolsters.

Blade length: 9.60 in.
Total length: 14.75 in.
Blade width: 2.05 in.
Blade thickness: 0.08 in.
Item weight: 8.10 oz.

this one is the same blade steel but copper alloy bolsters and Iron wood handle with mosaic center pin

Blade length: 9.25 in.
Total length: 14.20 in.
Blade width: 2.00 in.
Blade thickness: 0.08 in.
Item weight: 7.75 oz.

also interested in the patina ^ it must look crazy with use
 
Thanks everyone. not sure what the patinating qualities are going to be on these. the copper and brass should color up and probably the core but the white cladding is reported as stainless so it will be interesting to see.
 
I would love to see the patina on the copper alloy bolster over time

wow, that copper damascus looks like a sunset over the ocean. very nice.
 
What the heck?? Is that copper in the cladding steel? Is just the core steel made in Japan or do they make the laminate cladding as well?

the cladding is stainless, copper and brass with a high carbon V toku 2 core from takefu steel in Fukui Japan.
 
Absolutely love everything about these knives - blade profile, steel, handle, details - everything! It all comes together so well. Simply stunning!

Are both blade shapes the same? Kinda hard to tell from the angle of each knife in the pics. Just curious...
