Got one to try it out but it isn't a match for the types of knife steels I own and prefer.

This is a very hard, dish-resistant and fast cutting stone designed for tool steels that are harder than typical kitchen knife steels. I don't own any tool steel knives so it hasn't gotten much use at all.
