Hello,

My girlfriend and I are home cooks, but I stumbled across this website in an effort to gain more information about an impending knife purchase.

I was drawn into the discussions and really have been fascinated by the information and the help from other forum members. I hope to learn and contribute as much as I can.

Thanks for the warm welcome. We took a knife skills class together on New Year's day at SLT. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Now if we can make a dang decision on a 10" chef knife

Get the best knife you think you can afford and some good stones and enjoy them!

You will prob not find a 10inch chef knife that suits you both. Suggest you start with a knife she can enjoy and is not too small for you. 180 - 210, maybe 240. Maybe even a santoku. Suisin Inox is my favortie GF knife. 2nd knife can be your 240 -270 gyuto.

(True knife porn is measured in mm)
