    I'm a hand switcher too, so...
    Maybe a jon style sharpener might be able to weigh in here. Where is that guy anyways? I heard he's vacationing near Venice beach, bur that could be a rumor.

    You know, it would be pretty easy to control scratch direction on an Edge Pro. Not sayin, just sayin.

    Haha. I sharpen in long single strokes on the right hand bevel, and sectional sharpen on the left hand bevel. So my teeth are going all over the place, like a Brit.

    I tend to sharpen sujis differently than gyutos. Long "Jon" style strokes for the suji, and more sectional for gyutos. I don't know if there is a difference, it just makes sense to me. But, I used to change up the stroke patterns, and as of late, I am very conscience about keeping it consistent. Plus, I have made a conscience effort to use much lighter strokes, finishing with feather-light; I can attest this has made a difference.
