Natural Stone Finishes

We wanted to show what each of our natural stones could do for our website. The goal is to have pictures of each stone's finish at some point.
All of these pictures show a Blue Super Takeda Kogatana.

Hm… is it supposed to be normal that I can't see any differences between those shots? Well Nakayama may produce a slightly better mirror finish but that's the only thing I can tell from these photos… the size is too small for my eyes to spot the differences (yes, I was looking at full sized versions).

Would be cool to see macro shots of the edge and bevel. But thanks anyway!

Thanks for the comments, i do realize that all of the finishes between the Ohira Suita are very similar but that is also because the fineness of the stones are all very close. We will play around with picture format and figure out if there are any improvements we can make. What we are seeing with the naked eye is very different from what the camera picks up. Although the finishes are similar, all of these stones are very different when using them (softness, ease of use...).
One more note, the edge coming off of these stones are all very different

I think the 'unknown' Asagi shows quite a different finish on the hagane compared to the others. However, I agree it's tough to give a great idea of things in photos. I peer at many-a-photo of stones and finishes, but always feel like I'm imagining and guessing. But less so as I get more experience. Maybe that's how it goes, say, for doctors when they check out x-rays that at first make little sense.

Nice photos, though. Makes me want to buy one of these kogatana just to try out on my stones.

Is that a kiridashi or kogatana? In either case, is the bevel flat or convexed?

Natural sunlight will play a large roll in photos. Maybe try that and it will define the coontrast better

This is a Takeda Blue Super Kogatana and the bevel is dead flat.

We will try and post some pictures in natural light soon

Here is a picture in daylight. There is much less contrast visible unfortunately. Let me know if you disagree but I think the first pictures under a light source are much more informative.
