Maksim, where does this synthetic red Aoto stone fits in a sharpening setup and how does it compare to your synthetic Aoto? Would be it be fine enough for a finisher for kitchen knives?

If it is (as you say) similar to the 800, but just finer - it must be a lovely stone :)

Could the 800 together with the red Aoto make for a 2-stone setup?

Yep it actually can i have tested this stone for some time now and it is very fast :) But still make super nice edge
it will be a dream stone to the pro kitchen as it is splash and go, fast and wheres down very slow

Well it dose leave very good blade road finish same time it is super fast in my opinion. Edge similar to Real Red Aoto :D

Hmm
hard to say, i say very similar. Shigefusa included it to his setup too along with JNS 6k :D

Super tempting stone, but then i have to spend another $80 on something else so I can get free shipping  shouldn't be hard

I absolutely love my JNS 800... and this is my sweet spot as far as grit rating.

Have you tried permasoaking it Maxim & if so, how does it hold up? In the video it looks a lot less thirsty than the 800 but I am curious if it would be okay to soak.

It is made like 800, so soaking will not be a problem at all :)

Maxim: However, the JNS 800, though made like the JNS red, should be soaked, right? The 800 is a soaker but the red is splash-n-go that can be soaked. Correct?

one more vid 3 stone setup :D

Maxim - you didn't say, and so I think the answer is no, but does the new JNS red contain any natural stone material in it?

Now that would be awesome stone setup indeed. I hope you will have those 800 and red Aoto stones still available when I will need new stones in some 2-3 years :)

BTW - that Shigefusa Mukimono looks amazing. What other tasks could in be used for than the mukimono itself?
