Hey team. I bought a couple of Tanaka blue 2 Damascus knives for a friend as a wedding present but at the time I just bought them without thinking that they have never owned a carbon knife. So my question here is what if anything can I do before I give it to try and prevent some of the reactivity without losing the Damascus effect?

Be careful, etching too long can make it more reactive. Also these knives will still be stupid reactive after the etch. Since they are cooking in a home environment it wont be too big of a deal if they are careful with them.

I'd keep the knife and buy them a punch bowl or something instead.
