Where in the World is Mikey Riggen

Does anyone know what happened to Mikey? Last contact I had with him was via email on 25 January when he sent me wip pics of five handles he is making for me. Normally I'm patient but since he has 5 Shigefusa Kitaeji's I'm starting to get worried about getting my knives back. It's not so much the money as the fact that they are darned near irreplaceable these days.

Can someone at least confirm he's still alive and well? Or better yet...Maybe Mikey can confirm he's still with us and just on an extended vacation or something?

    Anyone?

He fell off the face of the earth for a while last year too due to some family issues. Just hoping for the best for him. I do hope he sees this and gets back to us. I haven't been successful contacting him either.

Yeah, I'm hoping he's ok and it isn't something bad.

Where in the World is Mikey Riggen

It's bitter-sweet know I'm not the only one who has had zero luck getting ahold of him. I haven't been able to get in contact with him since I sent an email on February 3rd, and have had no luck with subsequent emails either. I could understand screening emails of new customers (i.e. who didn't read the "not accepting orders" thread), but for clients that had prior arrangements it seems like something is wrong.

I've already done one round of rehandles with Mikey and this seems unlike him; I certainly wouldn't expect an instant response to an email, and usually would get one within a day to a week depending on the nature of the email. I know he moved to Hawaii to help out his folks, and between work and all has alot on the go, but I'm starting to worry that something may have happened (similar to back in the Spring/Summer of 2015, but worse).

I am concerned for him, but wish I could say that my concerns are solely altruistic… My situation isn't to the same degree as Smurfmacaw's, but it's still a fairly significant pecuniary matter nonetheless.

Is kinda weird, the dynamic between Hawaii and handle makers. Fish, Stefan, Mikey.....

    Update

I called his number just now and at least someone has reconnected his voicemail so maybe he's back. I left a message and hopefully he will call or send me an email. I'm hoping he's okay.

    Update

Ok, I sent three overnights to his address (used every variation to ensure it got there) and the overnight letters were accepted by a L. Riggen......somebody is actually there at least. I put all my contact information in the letter (and yes, I was nice) so hopefully they will contact me. I just want to know that he's ok and well....yes, I know it's crass, but i want my knives back. If anyone has information please let me know and I know that several people have an interest in knowing where he is so I'll keep all informed.

    cheers

I don't think wanting to know whats going on is crass, it a mixture of concern for the person and you possessions.

Mike - I agree that it is not crass to do such. You have a lot of property with him and it is ok to worry about it. I was able to get my knife sent back before delivery.
