    Is this aogami steel?

    Hi there. I always wanted to buy japanese knives, so i found one on online shop. It says that Deba and Yanagiba is aogami steel. Can anyone tell me is this true? Couse price looks to cheap.

    Steel is much, much cheaper than labour.

    There are three types of aogami (1 - 2 and super). Also the heat treat is very important. The smith is more important compared to the type of steel used, agree with Tim on this!

    I know that there is 3 types. But this Aogami #2 is almost ~50% cheaper then from other sellers. In same website aogami #2 yanagiba 270mm and deba 150mm cost 200 USD...
    Ok, ill try to order other knives.

    I'm not saying its bad quality, but I suspect the work might have been done in a worry in order to keep the price low. Maybe another user here has some experience with these knives?

    If it's a slip of the tongue, I've found that licking your keyboard makes a lot of typos. :lol:
