I'm new to this forum. I purchased a few Arkansas stones recently, and I'm trying to teach myself to free hand sharpen. I have a K Sabatier 10" carbon chefs knife, and some old Henckles to practice on. I have a lot to learn. Sometimes I can get a pretty sharp edge, and sometimes not as much. I'll be lurking in the sharpening forum mostly, as well as the BST.

Regards,

Russ

Welcome to the forum and good luck on your quest to get the perfect edge. I'm curious to know what the learning curve for freehand sharpening is. Are you self taught or do you have some type of a mentor?

Thanks Everyone,

I'm self taught by watching YouTube videos and practicing. The correct technique is still mostly a mystery to me, but I'm getting better slowly. If I'm honest, the Edge Pro is far more practical, but I enjoy the challenge.
