Hi everyone!

I just got Jacques Pépin's technique essentials book and I love it. I really feel it's going help my a lot in my future cooking endeavors! Would highly recommend it to anyone that's interested in learning the basic knowledge required to cook!

Do you guys have any recommendations for other essential cookbooks?

Thanks
Larry

A really good introduction to composing dishes is Tom Colicchio's Think Like A Chef. My all time favorite is Paul Bertolli's Cooking By Hand. It has great recipes, but more importantly tries to realign how a cook thinks about eating and ingredients. Judy Datar's photos are also stunning.

The Peterson books are great for basics, and flipping through for really general inspiration.

La methode his other book. Larousse gastronomique. Amazing book. Not so much skills but a food encyclopedia.
