In the short time I have been here I have learned a lot.
But, the more I learn, the more I see there is left to learn.
Here is where I need some help.
Japanese Handles and Sayas.
All I know so far is what I have seen from photos.
I have been told 1&1/2" square by 6" long pieces will work for most of the octagon shaped handles.
What I was hoping for was to find out about the different Japanese handles. Photos, dimensions, diagrams and how the best ones are constructed.
I don't want to become a handle maker (not enough time),
But I figured if I made a few correctly I would be better able to fully understand what is needed by the handle makers.
Same thing with the Sayas.
I would assume the Sayas would use a softer, non stabilized wood to avoid scratching the blade?
Thank You in advance for any help, advice and instruction.
