cheap rehandling option...

can anyone suggest a cheap rehandling + saya option? I want to get a new handle for my old 5" carter which still has the ho handle on it.

don't want anything fancy, just something functional and decent looking.

any suggestions? anyone in the west coast?

Maybe a burnt chestnut handle from Jon at Japanese Knife Imports. Good pricing, West Coast.

I second that option - unless you dislike the look, you will have a hard time to find handles that feels better in hand. D or octagonal - just a matter of preference. Both are fine.

Epicurean Edge offers replacement ho wood handles for around $30. Not gonna get much cheaper than that. However that doesn't include installation.

They also have a selection of sayas, but to ensure that you get one that fits your knife properly you'd have to send the knife to them.

They are near Seattle.
