Back in the old days I used to ask the knife makers for photos of the knives they made using Burl Source woods.
It used to be almost daily that I would get emails with really cool knife photos.
Over time I got busier and forgot to keep in touch.
What a dummy. Those photos were probably the most enjoyable part of my job.
Today I was going through some old files and found these photos.
I thought maybe some of you would enjoy seeing them.

Great photos, thanks for sharing. The Mario pictures are especially good. Never heard of Matt Stephens or Tim Johnson before, they make some killer handles too.

Oh, and nice wood:laugh: Esp the Redwood burl and Thuya burl.

That was very cool to share--thanks for posting! Also very nice that you took the time to note the makers. It would have been easier to just post pics, but it's great to see people get credit for their impressive work. Some of those were familiar, but many were new.
Mark, thank you for continuing to find such awesome wood for all of us, and for your great customer service.

I was still newish then, but I still miss seeing what popped up next on the black leather(couch?) And the red brick.
Definitely a nice trip down memory lane!

Mario's work is freaking gorgeous. I'm still on his list, and should be coming up soon, I believe. Terrible timing, but I might have to make it work after seeing these.

Also, is it cool if we add to the thread, Mark? Virtually all of my handle and most of my saya wood has come from you.

Very cool to see them all together, wish I had more to contribute, but I have too much fun picking my own woods and getting them ready for handles. Or I forget to take pictures...

Stefan

Great collection Mark, always love to see what others are doing.

Be well,
Mikey

Photos are not from the maker but at least from the customer - ME!

I have this gorgeous 255mm gyuto from Bryan Raquin since July. I ordered a 240mm and it turned out a bit too long. It is now the longest gyuto in my collection.

The handle is made from stabilized Oregon myrtlewood (#7123) bought from burlsource quite a long time ago. I bought this piece of wood for its decent appearance. The colour has changed a bit since its purchase but I always loved this piece of wood. I think it fits both the knife and Bryan's style.
