I am trying to fined out what the make of this knife is and where it comes from?

Looks like Magoroku. From Mino/Noshu (in Gifu Prefecture).
 
What would you say the value of the knife is worth?
 
Used? Barely worth selling if postage is taken into account. It's a cheap knife.
 
Whatever low end stainless steel is popular with Japanese mass market knife makers. Probably better than the stuff cheap US knives are made from, but not by a whole lot.

The "cladding" mark is sand-blasted onto the stainless to simulate a clad blade, it's not real.

That said, my cheap stainless steel Japanese knives take a decent edge, at least for a while.
