I bought both of these from Maksim/JNS in December. They are the famed Kato workhorses made with tamahagane steel. Both have burnt chestnut, d-shaped handles.
The gyuto has had just a little use at home, rotated with about half a dozen other gyutos. The reason I'm selling is that I snagged a 240, which is the length I really wanted, but it wasn't available at the time of purchase. I have not had to sharpen it, so it is practically new. It has a little patina (which I will gladly Flitz off, if the buyer requests it). Comes in original box.
Selling for $350, including paypal fees and U.S. Priority Shipping.
The small petty is the 85mm version, with the same steel. Unfortunately, while I was comparing it to some other knives, I damaged the tip, so it lost about 2mm. I used sandpaper to restore the point. The current heel to tip length is roughly 3 1/8 inches. I scratched one side a bit, but these are just cosmetic scratches. I picked up a very similar knife from the Epic Edge sale at around the same time, and decided to keep that one because it's a bit different, and I like having variety in my knife collection. Will also ship with original box.
Selling for $75, including paypal fees and U.S. Priority Shipping.
I might be able to cut a break by combining shipping--let me know if you might be interested.
Thanks for looking!
