Welcome Fred, from another newbie.
I'll be in Montreal on business next month. Any dining recommendations?

Fred, depends on what you're into. I used to live in Boston and we used to visit the F1
Villeneuve race way every year.

Understand the Smoked Meat is King in Montreal. 1/2 Fat smoked meat sandwich with fries and pickle. Blows away Katz Deli in NYC (and I'm an American).

There are several legendary places to find it but my vote goes to Schwartz. Whiles your there, pick up some of their chicken and beef spice. If you've ever heard of "Montreal Spice" I believe Schwartz created the blend. My Will will request that I'm buried with a jar.

Thanks, Mucho Bucho, Schwartz sounds ideal!

sorry it's taken me forever to reply: Au Pied De Cochon is a local favourite, joe beef is also pretty well known. for quick bites la banquise and schwartz's are classics.

I highly recommend Les Affamés and Monkland Taverne. Cho is also really good for fine casual azn.

it really depends on what you're looking for, Montreal has more restos per capita than anywhere in north america so it can be a bit overwhelming
