    Mirror sharpening question.

    Hi guys.
Borrowing Dave's pic to illustrate my point (I hope you don't mind). I assume that was done via Japanese natural store or any other natural stone which doesn't have precise grit like artificial ones. Or if it?

I have a 6k grit stone and I can get it to mirror without an issue but it's kinda straight, but I want to try to create that effect.

    Thanks

Aye as above its a San mai. The wave effect of the weld line comes from the manner in which the 3 layer billet is forged down to size and the tools used.
You can see the polished bevel which is a straight line on the edge.

The core steel on the Hiromoto does look really cool with a good etch. Maybe we should all have one?
