Fairly often I am asked for larger pieces of nice but not overly expensive wood to be used for a variety of craft projects. So I have added a bunch of nice pieces to my web store. Many of these are hardwoods that you could cut up for very inexpensive knife handle blocks. This is not the super figured wood but it is probably a good bit nicer than what you would normally find in a lumber store. These pieces are drum sanded at 36 grit and sprayed with a light coat of lacquer for a little extra protection until you start your project. You can barely see the grain and figure at this coarse grit. I have air dried all of this wood indoors for over 2 years. It is dry and ready to use with moisture content ranging from 10 to 12%.

You can find the new Craft Project wood in this section of my web store.

The woods that I posted today are;
Figured Oregon Myrtle Wood

Curly Oregon Maple & Pacific Yew Wood

California Claro Walnut

Curly Old Growth Redwood

The 1 inch thick long pieces were cut thinking they could be used to make a magnetic knife strip.

The redwood is from an old stump that was left from logging in the 1800s.
They are usually about 20 foot tall. That is the only way you get old growth.
