I recently got a white #2 monosteel gyuto and I liked it so much that I want to see if I can get another one that's a little less expensive. (so no honyakis)

Can someone confirm if Sakai Yusuke and ginga/gesshin ginga monosteel? I've seen it mentioned somewhere but am not sure.

I would also appreciate suggestions for other monosteel white #2 gyutos out there.

Thanks!

Both are monosteel. The konosuke HD2 is also monosteel. As far as I know, most knives one would classify as lasers are monosteel, its pretty difficult to clad a knife than is so thin.

Yeap, both Yusuke and Ginga are Zenko, says so one Ashi Hamono's site. :) Also, there a thread somewhere that says Yusuke is rebranded Ashi Ginga.

Sakai Yusuke and Ashi w2 are mono steel, sames goes for the 'laser' konosuke white 2 knives.

Yoshihiro hagane gyuto if you want a middleweight rather than a layzor

There are examples, e.g. Takamura R2 and Konosuke GS are legit lazers, and both are clad.

Thanks everyone for suggestions and tolerance for my terrible attempt at a joke. Will probably save up for a Gesshin Ginga. Thanks!

This Sakai Takayuki Aoniko line is zenko blue 2.
