Here's some pictures of my forge and how I work.
Forging;

Annealing;

Straightening & Planishing;

Grinding;

Deglazing the big wheel;

Forge in summer w. Peanut the dog looking sheepish;

Beautiful work space, if I recall its 17th century and there are still relatives living in town that are related to blacksmiths that worked there before you.

Something like that bkultra!
There's some graffiti in the forge dated 1940, the guy who carved it as a young apprentice was still living in the next village over when we moved here! Maybe he still is??
And then there was the time the grandson (in his 50's) of a long-gone blacksmith told us where they used to dump the chamber pots out...

My workstation;

Knife horse on the bench. The doors open when it's nice outside;

My bosh is an old belfast sink;

And someone at some point has been playing darts on the back of the door;

Is it me or do most Blacksmith shops need a good dusting? Maybe a quick sweep here and there to the floor too.

That being said, thanks for sharing, there is another world class blacksmith from England (Herefordshire) on our forum, Will Catcheside. Do you know Will? You guys would be dangerous together.

BTW, his shop needs a little tidying up too. ;-)

There is a specialist product you can buy, it's called "Duste(TM)". It's very expensive. My stylist had me sprinkle around. "Authenticity in a can!" she said...

It is distinctive, for sure! It can be horrible cold in winter, though, and given a choice I'd always rather be sweating than shivering.
