Another big mess of stabilized blocks came back from K&G this morning. It is easy for me to forget what I sent in to be stabilized so I am always excited to go through everything when the boxes of wood come back from being stabilized.

Here is what they look like fresh out of the box.

Now I better get to work and make them presentable.
There are some real treasures in this batch.

I will start with these first.
I am almost positive you can't guess what these are.
Hint: Australia, natural color

Here they are partially cleaned up.
They look lots lighter at 36 grit but will darken up and show their true colors as I sand them finer.
Still hard to tell what they are.

Here they are cleaned up.
This is Figured SheOak that I imported from Western Australia.
Cool stuff but....you have to like the color orange.

Here are some more that I cleaned up today.
You just don't know what is there till you do a little sanding.
I like what I am finding so far.

I love that maple burl.

I love that maple burl.

I agree with you. This is a bit nicer than normal maple.
I had a call yesterday from someone wanting a blonde colored figured wood.
I asked "what about some real good maple burl?"
He replied "too generic"
If he would have asked to see photos I bet he would have thought otherwise.
