Looking for a knife roll. The leather-worker looks beautiful but unfortunately just not in the budget at this time.

Any recommendations from the bunch available here:

I will only be transporting about 4 knives, the longest being a 300mm yanagi. If it had a little compartment for tweezers and a wider "slot" for my wooden strop that would be cool too but not necessary.

Thanks

i wouldn't even bother with a roll, for four knives.

i would go with the 8 pocket messermiester you can carry some tongs, fish spatula and wooden spoons with it.

I use this, works well, pretty tough and won't break the bank.

I have the Wusthof 6 pocket knife roll, its really nice and looks very well made. Its small enough so you can put it inside a backpack.

Here you can see it better.

Does the 8 pocket messer fit a 300 yanigiba? Mine is pretty close on a 270 suji. And I generally only carry 3 or 4 knives to work... it is worth it to get a roll or other carrying device.

do you have a saya with the yanagi?

i use a 5 slot messer and the tip of the saya sticks out about 1/4 inch. if you put the zippers around it, it doesn't move. it also houses a 270mm wa-gyuto, 210mm mioroshi deba, and a 150mm wa petty with the 300mm yanagiba.

i keep all my other tools in a bag i got from jb prince so i can leave my stuff at work but bring my knives home. also that roll fits into the bag.

if this thing held my yanagi with saya, i would have picked this one in a heartbeat. it is exactly what i wanted, just not long enough.

i guess the flap doesnt have to be flush though and could hang over while keeping all the knives from moving, maybe i should have thought about that better when i did my research a year ago

I know you are only doing 4 so this might be overkill...but this is my favorite knife case on the market right now (besides the leathers/customs).

I own this one as well and feel equally good about it, however I can't fit my Yoshihiro 300 w/saya! Other than that I have no problem recommending this one easily, it holds up well and hasn't had any issues and I have it stuffed all the time!

I use a messermiester 12 pocket, fits my suisin 300 yanagiba with saya.
I usually only bring 4 or 5 knives so It's more space than I need but better that than the 8 pocket that I used to have which was just too small after all the spoons and spats etc.
