    Using flattening stone to thin

So I have a norton 220 flattening stone, can I use the backside (without grooves) to flatten my knives? My only issue is that it seems to be abrasive and wear out.

those flattening stones will need flattening themselves...they get rounded quicker than many stones...I would suggest against using it on a 'real' knife.
once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right
