Here's a question that's asked often; "How do I apply chromium oxide powder to a leather strop?"

Follow along for the answer....

1. Sprinkle some powder onto the leather strop. You don't need much!

2. Spread the powder all over the surface of the leather strop.

3. Rub the powder into the leather's surface until there is little residual powder being removed.

4. The leather's surface should look like this when finished.

Thanks Dave!
How much does the finish (?) of the leather matter for this? Smooth suede, super furry, etc. ?
I have no clue the words hehe

I like the smooth side a lot better for finishing an edge but the rough side can be useful for de-burring.

I forgot to mention that the rough side can be handy to use with a more aggressive compound for touch ups in between sharpening(s).

A similar process for felt I imagine too, at least that's how I did it. Also make sure you don't sneeze or have an air draft lol

For felt I use a mister bottle with alcohol 70/30 CrO mix. This makes a really neat even distribution without clumping up the felt.

And yeah, no sneezing!
